I intend this thread to establish the facts about Health Care in Spain for EU nationals - so sorry everyone else (ie NON EU nationals) you are welcome to read but please don’t confuse the thread - thank you.

Also please note I am just trying to find out FACTS I am not grinding a political axe or saying the current changing situation is right or wrong - please contribute facts and not political rhetoric, again thanks. Also don’t introduce autonomo, this is about those that decided not to work.

Defining Early Retiree as: Those under full pension age with no automatic health rights.

OK

Starting Position

Up until recently Valencia province offered free health care for early retiree non working British residents.

First question - Was this available anywhere else in Spain? If so where and is it still available?

Next

Valencia now requires early retirees to pay for Spanish health cover starting from 270 euros a qtr.

If your region wants payment how much are they charging?

Next

If you are a non British EU citizen (especially Dutch because I believe they do have a scheme) early retiree

Are you paying contributions to your original country which entitles you to national health cover in Spain? If so how much a quarter.

Please contribute facts if you are able to the above questions, then perhaps we can sort out the correct information form the fiction and other rubbish being quoted.

thank you.

Great post idea. I’m wondering where all the responses are (though I’m not sure how many retirees we get here).

Looking forward to seeing more (even though I’m non-EU). Consider this a *bump*

Hi there

We have 1,000s of Expats here in this situation who are planning a big protest rally in Alicante on December 10th at 10am but they don’t seem to be on this forum or they don’t want to post!
