Hello all,

I’m an American who will be returning to Spain to teach English (I studied there last year).  I have a job offer lined up, but no work permit….yet.  My employer said he would assist me with the process upon arrival.  In the meantime, I plan on entering as a tourist.

Will I automatically recieve the 90 day tourist visa?  Is that standard?  I only have a one-way ticket, and am nervous that customs will demand to know my return date.

Gracias por tu atencion!

You will recieve a 90 day visa stamp in your passport when you get to border control (immigration), the one way ticket thing I were not worry so much, I have personally enter Spain in numerous times and never had a problem with this, just carry yourself like an American DO NOT try to speak spanish and dont tell them than you are coming to work there, once you get into the country your employer should be able to help you out with getting you a work permit using a work contract.

Hi,

You can find info about the 90-day tourist visa here: http://www.spainexpat.com/spain/information/schengen_visa_spain/.

Why not speak spanish?  My passport has a student visa from last year… won’t they be disappointed in me if I cannot remember any of the castellano that I learned?

Nonetheless, thanks for the advice!!
