Hi,

I currently have an ATT (US) BlackBerry, my company has it own BES.
I am wondering what is the best solution for me to keep using my email account on a BlackBerry.
I am on roaming right but it is too expensive to be a permanent solution.
I was thinking to buy a new BlackBerry through Vodafone with a Dataplan and will do an Enterprise activation.

Does anyone have done that before?
Any experience is greatly appreciate,

Thank you.

Get the BB unlocked and then all you need is a BB provisioned SIM from Vodafone in Spain all that is needed is a SIM that has the BB APN provisioned and this will work

BTW, I am a EU citizen. Do I have to have a residency card/NIE in order to get a contract?
Thank you for your inputs.

Do not think so but you will need your passport and provide details of who you are as the SIM now must have a person registered to it.

Hi,

You should register with a NIE, with passport you’ll need more documentation and it goes first under “inspection”.  btw i guess that contracting a spanish BB BES service and registering with your BES will work. We’ve done it with and company from the states, they have a guy here in spain that has spanish BB registered with their american BES server.

Regards

I couldnt get a new contract for my Blackberry in Spain (sim only I needed) until I had a Spanish bank account to collect the debits from - sure you have thought of that but I hadn’t a couple months ago!  Compared to the UK unlimited data contracts are very expensive, but obviously a great deal cheaper than roaming on a UK number,

Right, of course you need a spanish bank account, but this is basic for most services (electricity, gas, rental, insurance, etc). Lucky this is easier to get than anything else (filling the account is another story 😉 )

Well getting my residency card will take few months. I was told that I could try with my EU passport even my Spanish banking account has not 6 months old yet.
Any experience on that one?

Residencia is quite quick, normally around 40 days.  For the SIM now it’s difficult, they ask more papers to know you’ve stayed at least 6 months in spain. I asked and looks that at least they submit copy of passport by fax to movistar and they check and afterwards aprove or deny the line.
