Good Afternoon / Evening

Today I have been told that the IT Jobs Market Is now Drying up Through Out Spain (I Know You Think You Know But Read On)

My Boss told me today that the Big 2 Top 10 Job Agencies and There Websites are to Fold (Go Bust End Of This Month)

I read the email my Boss received from a Recruitment Consultant Explaining the reasons…

There Is A Big Influx of Dutch / German / French People requesting work In Spain as Most IT Jobs are Drying Up…

ING Group are Sheding 7000 Jobs in Holland Spain and Some other Parts of Europe (This Will Completed By End Of August 09)..

My boss has taken a 20% Pay DECREASE… And asking us to do the same and working More Hours and not getting paid.. This is now the “Trend” With Employers They asking workers to take a paycut and to work more hours… We all work 80 a week all ready!!

So Heads Up The Eye of the storm is nearing and For some Over Head already…

Regards Mac
PS: Keep Strong Think Positive and Ride it out… It Will Pass….

We had the same here , think we round 5 here with pay cuts and freezes . like a grave yard here at work . last year we had over 40 people work with are beside the company , in the Media side , sales jobs have been the biggest cuts . only think is thay try two Recruit new staff in Elche area but some off the people are ask outrageous wage packages .... , one person how less up there in his nut was looking for 45,000 euros per year in two his hand .... Ja ja ja , ha i keep the place running here and i am tower rigger aswell and i wold get that cash ...

it funny but we all have two take pay cuts and live the reel life

Meanwhile the number of new companies being created in February was down 36% on last year at just 7,582 . It shows how the economic crisis is affecting the enthusiasm and confidence of entrepreneurs . The number is the worst February for 17 years . but small companys cant get loans from the banks here . the baker, shose make all have two wind down and so have gone out bussines aswell ,  Elx is an important player in the footwear industry . Its 1,100?plus companies in this sector make up 42% of all such companies in Spain , employing over 18,000 highly qualified workers . well that was last year now it halfed . where i am working Parque Industrial , there less around less cars .... jobs are down

But there was More around elc this weekend gone as people didnt go on Holidays ....and any notice the price off Fuel went up ? 94 cent for petrol

Well Since posting that post The Jobs Salarys have been lowered…

Its an Employers Market As there is so many people On the Dole (Paro) They get to call the shots.. (This Bubble will Burst)

Employers now are taking there time and interviewing as many people as they can to get the perfect “Person” for the job and also as they are aware of the “Crisis” They know they can offer a lower salary..

Example

Madrid: ?25000 : IT Support: Must Have BES MCSE Novell. <<<< This job is currently avertised in IT Job Website.

Its just one of those things here in Spain we have to deal with when time is hard..

Like I said this bubble will burst as the people that Employers choose to employ are so perfect for the job Will want to leave after a year or so… This will start a chain through out Spain… It be like the Mid to late 90’s when so many people swapped and changed there jobs..

If your lucky and you get to work with a good employer then the above may not apply to you!

The above info is the reason im not movng to Spain just yet, but will however invest in a cheap property!

The recession is bad in England but it seems worse in Spain, there are still lots of available jobs here for a good wage, i can safely say im quite lucky the recession hasnt affected me, only my leccy & water bills are higher than usual!
I was out of work for only 2 weeks earlier this year, and walked into a new job that pays quite well!

+++UPDATE+++

Well It seems the Work Is More In Gibraltar (Even Though It Is Not Spain!)
All the Adverts for IT Jobs Are in That Direction…
Gibraltar Has The Biggest Online (Websites) Sports & Casinos Industry There. I have been Offered Job Interviews there But Not keen as Every Thing Is In Pound Sterling and Your Medical Payments are valid Only for Gibraltar.. Unless you Transfer All your Tax and Stuff to Spain Which Sounds like A Nightmare!!!

Anyway Good News ORACLE Has Moved into Malaga Business Park and now they have successfully Bought SUN Microsystems

I hope Things will pick up… Apparently More Jobs In August.. Keep you IT Guys Updated When I know I post it here..

It may drive alot of employees out of spain and into countries where salaries are better, e.g. UK, France, Germany, and Holland. The recession here in the UK is over hyped by the media. Most people are still in jobs - there have been many losses but the impact hasn’t been as severe as the media would like you to think. It seems worse as we havent had this type of climate for many years and now its hitting us like the proverbial.

Luckily I have a job, only renting my property, and have no financial obligations to any bank. The only thing that I do have which is a burden is that ‘2nd mortgage’ - i.e. Nursery Fees!!! At 800 quid a month its no joke!

You?re very much correct in what you say…

But Holland, Germany, France are tightening there belts like Spain with the influx of EU/Outside EU workers

I have just left a Job in Holland (Even Though I worked in Spain) Holland had a ruddy expensive Tax Band and if you are an Expat you had to do Lots of paperwork so on so fourth to get the 30% ruling… If you couldn?t get the 30% Ruling you were paying nearly half your wages to the Government! 52% To be exact if you earned ?2.800 a month (Before Tax)...

Even though its awesome to work abroad many EXXPATS are returning home to recoup see what there loss’s are and try again when “La Crisis” goes.

I call it Swings and Roundabouts!

I see no point of setting roots and spending a lot of money settling down in a foreign country to throw it all away for a panic… As you can always work in Spain even its just Paying your bills and food to mouth situation it gets better…

Is your “Bump Comment” a threat or a nice thing?

Oracle is to expand slightly bigger and yes its been there 11 months… As Oracle has now purchased SUN Microsystems it can only get better.
