Hi,

I am a U.S. citizen. My girlfriend is a Spanish citizen. I have been accepted for a student visa, but the start date of the visa is not to our liking. My question, can I utilize the 90-day visa before using the student visa? Any information is appreciated.

US passport holders do not neet a visa to enter as tourists, so if you enter, your passport may be stamped on any page but you have to fly out to uk or ireland and come back to enter as student and have your student visa stamped, so you can apply for a student card. you can ask the spanish consulate to clarify, though.

I was thinking I would have to leave the Schengan territories. Does anyone have experience with this? Maybe take a short trip to Morocco would work?

aritz mentioned uk, uk is not part of the schengen zone, so you can go shopping to uk and then come back 😊
