Hello,

I was wondering if any of you could tell me how long the Oficina de Empleo needs before you get your dole money. Some people have been telling me that you they need about 40 days to sort out the paperwork and that you don’t get any money for the time they are doing this. They basically told me that they don’t backdate the money to the date that you lost your employment. However, the people telling me this have never been on the dole themselves and they have just heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend. Has anybody here been on the dole who can help me clarify this a little bit?

I’m not sure how long it takes but you have 15 days from when you sign on to fill in the papers and take it back to them. It is normally back dated from what I hear.

Go to the offices and ask them.

It can vary from region to region as it depends on the amount of people claiming at any given time.

There is no set time scale, its governed by work load.
