What should have been a pleasant stroll for the newspaper nearly ended in an unseemly street brawl - because of a lap-dog. Minding my own business I was making my way home along the public footpath when this ball of ferocious canine nastiness hurled itself from its owners’ gate and came at me like an Exocet missile.
This was not an irritating yap-yap situation though one can do without them too. Who needs their stroll to be ruined by an uncontrolled dog? But this mutt was snapping at my ankles and determined to bite me. Fortunately I had my rolled up newspaper with me and swatted it away, which taught it a much needed lesson.
One would have thought that its owners would have been apologetic. Far from it. They were absolutely furious at my swatting their dog, calling me a bestia. The irony of that remark would have been lost on them. I was the one behaving in a civilised manner. It was their beast that was acting like one.
What did they expect me to do; close my eye whilst their pampered mutt chewed my ankles to pieces. I don’t blame the dog - I blame the owners. They are despicable beyond words. Thinking about it I am sorry I had the newspaper with me. Had it succeeded in biting me then I know just the man (solicitor) who would have emptied their bank account into mine. Maybe better to financially swat them than their dog.

That made me giggle!

We encounter yappy dogs every day….we take our beautiful composed dalmation for daily walks without a lead (unless in a busy area) and constantly have these small things pulling at their leads and making an awful racket as we pass! Even our girl looks embarrased for them!!

I have a great job, it gains me access to joe publics home.

I don`t hate animals, my child has a terrapin.

But I don`t understand dog and cat owners, the worst tend to be teachers who own cats.

My parents had a dog which i grew up with, so I`m used to the smelly unclean flea bitten money draining creatures.

I have to face people daily askin me to greet there animals when I arrive, often I get told “He`s come to say hello” as he sniffs my willie area.

That follows do you have dogs/cats, to which I reply “No i don`t”, one day a lady asked me why, too which I replied I don`t see the point in having a creature of bad habits living in my home.

She got a bit…..Umm upset, apparently having the opinion that a creature that licks its and others butt hole, then lick you is somehow normal.

Too me a dog is something a farmer would use or a hunter, not something that should live in your house.

Many dog owners really want to get a grip of themselves. They seem to have lost all sense of proportion. I don’t exaggerate when I say that their adoration for their pooch goes far beyond parody. I am reminded of the cartoon: a dog owner is licking his dog bollocks. His wife says: “Arnold, you spoil that dog. Let it lick its own balls.” Many a true word said in jest.
I took a break once with a colleague. His reunion with his Welsh border collie was embarrassing: it was so over the top that it would have been uncomfortable watching the panting endearments; the licking, kissing, fondling had it been his child in his arms. There are many dog owners like him. He actually said to me that he would happily give his life so his dog could live if the choice was presented to him. Like that is sick.
Before anyone suggests otherwise my father’s home was a working farm in which several super smart dogs were happily employed. I was never without a dog when I was a child and in my early adulthood. Yes, they make good pets and wonderful colleagues when working. Some animal owners however really do need to see advice.

A few weeks ago we went for a day trip to the local beach.

On the promenade walking and talking quiet happily was a fiftiesish couple walking there dog, who was dressed in a pink frilly dress.

I kid you not, they were talking to the animal as if it were a child.

I felt like walkin up to them and asking how old there little daughter is and why isn`t she in school.

Funny thing was the couple seemed to believe the people staring were actually admiring there pride and joy, no more giggling at how ridiculous they looked.

And I`d bet money these people holiday in Torremolinos.

Seriously dog owners should get shot of the animals and donate the money they save to child charities or adopt a parent less child.

So sad with all the suffering in the world that idiots that vote also waste money and time on a creature with no purpose in life other than to eat, sleep, lick it balls and sh88.

Now! Now!,
Many animals play a useful part in life, especially with the elderly and sick.
They have ways that comfort a person and also help in the healing process.
Unlike many humans who can have the opposite effect.
In fact just reading your post has given me a feeling of stress.
I have owned many dogs and have kept them in good order and treated them as an animal.
Do not paste all dog owners with the same brush.
Infact I prefer the company of my dog as compared to many, lieing, cheating, ill mannered, foul mouthed,
anti humane, drink addicts, scruffy and most of all soul destroying scruffy humans and we see many of these in Spain and not Spanish.
Adios.

I`d avoid those too.

Although if my life depended on choosing between the two, I`d choose the group that didn`t lick its genital`s, carry disease and contributed something to the economy.

Dogs are pack animals, as are humans, they do not tolerate outsiders and treat them with contempt, sometimes this involves a level of violence.

I doubt many dogs are faithful to there partners, they tend not to self groom, I dont speak bark, but I`m sure there not being polite to the postman or visitors.

In fact you could say that the group of humans you refrain from, are infact present in your dog. 😉

It sounds to me like Friend 107 has spent too much time either in San Quentin Prison, or the House of Commons. Amazingly it is people - not dogs, who run animal charities. I have yet to hear of a dog running a Human Rescue Centre; a cat vet looking after sick people.
I have been inspired by great singers and musicians but strangely enough never by a yapping mutt. I have read wonderful books of great deeds, but apart from Lassie, an imaginary Scottish collie, I can’t think of a single canine that has achieved truly great things. Oh, there was Black Bob who liked herding sheep. Some animals have however excelled when inspired by nasty humans   ...  oh well. As one canine critic termed the critturs: ‘A grubby bag of fur filled to the brim with germs.’ A remark that much amused the nation at the time.

In my experience people who do not like dogs are usually a little strange themselves, be it selfishness or shallow. Dogs can be a problem but it is usually the owners that are at fault. There should be an examination in common sense to be able to own a dog. Dogs do a great deal of good for humans, blind dogs, sniffer dogs, dogs that rescue people from under snow or concrete, I bet you would not mind being rescued by a dog if your life was at risk. Dogs offer friendship, affection, protection and do not quibble or answer back like most humans. I live in a villa on an urbanisation. Throughout August the villa next door has been rented. A lower form of life would be hard to find than that which has been living next door for the last 2 weeks. I would not piss on those people if they were on fire. It is people that are often stupid with there animals and the way they treat them and fail to train them that cause most of the issues that surrounds them. Dogs nowdays are to easy to have and dispose of at will. As for licking there genitals are you sure that is not jealousy on your part? Some people are good some bad, some dogs are good and some have bad owners.

Dogs only achieve these feats by being bribed into the actions.

And only because of human training, maybe though there is a totally wild dog capable of these great acts of humanity, ask any Australian there view of wild dogs. 😉

So what about children. We can see only too often what effect a lack of training has on them. We are all animals and training is vital. Dogs are no different.
