Hi All,  I?m getting married in Granada in December and have a number of people flying over from the UK.  They?ve booked flights to Malaga as they are so much cheaper than going to Granada.  There?s a group of 16 who are all flying together and so I?ve been looking at prices for minibus hire and have been surprised at how expensive it is.  The minibuses all come with a driver and the prices I?ve been quoted so far have been 500 - 600+ euros return (they arrive on Thursday and leave 4 days later).  I?ve looked at hiring 2 people carriers which they can drive themselves but that?s also really expensive, plus we?d have to add on petrol money and 4 days? parking in Granada.  I actually live in the Balearics so I?m not overly familiar with that area so I?d love to hear from anyone who?s got any ideas of how I can get the family from Malaga airport to Granada and back - preferably without too many complications as there?s kids coming too!!  Thanks

Try using Alsa bus company.

http://www.alsa.es/portal/site/Alsa/

I searched worked out 20 Euros a person return from Malaga to Granada.

Rentals in Malaga are hard to find according to the news as rental companies have reduced buy stock by 90%, so there is high demand and fewer cars.

Usually means prices rise as well.

Laura;

As one who lives close to Granada, I would have to concur with Santi’s suggestion.

Take the local train from Malaga Airport (opposite the main terminal and well signposted) into Malaga centre then get the coach connection to Granada.

Its relatively quick, comfortable and fuss free and there seems to be an hourly service.

Alsa (Alsina Graells) are the main coach operator on the route. Their coaches are modern and clean and their drivers knowledgable and friendly.

You should be advised that the bus Station in Granada is a little way out from the City Centre, but the coaches route through the centre before going on to the bus station.

Self-drive car hire from Malaga Airport is not for the faint-hearted and the Granada turn off the main drag is easily missed…

Let someone else do the hard work…

Well we?re having the ceremony in a church in Granada, which will all be in spanish.  So I suppose you could say it?s a Spanish style wedding.  I?m not too sure what differences there are!!

I got married in Spain, my OH is Spanish.

The service was long, very long, 1.5 hours, we exchanged Arras, ours were Silver coins, you can see them here.

http://www.worldlyweddings.com/Arras-s/48.htm

After the Wedding we had the typical photo`s done, then onto the meal, which was 7 courses;

5 large prawns.
Entries Frio, different meats.
Entries Caliente, sheeps brains, croquettes, Amejas.
Then a Sorbet to clean the mouth.
Then Fish Course, Hake with clams.
Then Meat Course, Lamb Shanks.
Deserts
Wedding Cake with coffee and Brandy.

Took about 5 hours, then get changed and went to a nightclub in Bilbao that caters for weddings and stag parties, this included male and female strippers.

Then back to hotel room at 5 am. Similar to a UK wedding I suppose, only too much food and the Arras during the ceremony i guess were different.

The Aras is an exchange between the couple during the vows, ours were placed on a silver tray, we kept them as there usually given as a present before the wedding. The coins have pictures from the bible on them.

When we booked the church the priest gave us a little book with the ceremony wording in and it seemed pretty much the same as an English wedding - only in Spanish!!  It?s a Catholic Church, perhaps yours was a different religion?

We also have the usual photographer booked.

We will then go on to a hotel where we have an hour of “aperitivos” and drinks.

After that we?ll go to the restaurant and eat the meal which is soup, cod, sorbet, lamb, wedding cake, coffee, champagne, etc.

We then go on to the disco where we have 3 hours of DJ and free bar to keep everyone happy and wash down all the food!!

It was a Catholic service.

Maybe there used to English services and believed that to be more appropriate, I`m sure if you wanted Aras included it would be, its very normal in Spanish weddings.

As is gifts for all the guests.

I forgot them.

After the main meals, just after cutting the cake, my mother handed out little address books with a silver engravement on the front with the date and names to all the women and my wifes father handed out cigars to all the men.

You may have noticed shops around Spain that sell these items, you can pick up different types of items.

We have a draw full from various wedding and baptism gifts they make a nice reminder.

Good luck, it`ll be great day I`m sure.😊
