Can anyone help
I have a Sky + box and a new card (registered in the UK). I can not receive ITV (most ITV channels) or BBC1 North West which is where the card is registered - I can watch other BBC channels ie BBC NI on channel 973 or BBC London on channel 974. I get the error “no satellite signal is being received” on 101 and 103 for instance
The weird thing is this - if I record any of the channels using Sky + I can then go into the Sky Planner and select the programme I am recording - then watch it whilst it is recording.
I have switched the cables over but still the same thing happens.
I have changed the Sky + box - still no change
Having contacted Sky 2 months ago they eventually wanted to send their engineer out

Also - does anyone have an up to date telephone number for Sky - non 0871 - that I can ring from Spain - the only one I can get hold of is an 0844 number which I cannot dial from Spain.

BBCNI and BBC London are on horizontal frequencies, and most other BBC1 frequencies are vertical.
About 12 ITV regions are on horizontals and 12 are on verticals, probably why you can get some and not others.

As you have this on two boxes, then I would suggest your LNB (thingy at the end of the dish that is connected to your cable) is knackered.

Normally a Sky+ box uses input 1 for the channel you are watching and input 2 for any recordings in your planner - which would explain why you can watch channels that are being recorded. This may indicate an issue with either the box or LNB.

Also check the cable connectors and make sure there are no short circuits.

I dont think Sky will send an engineer out to spain for you!!!
YOu could try an english mobile (with caller id blocked) and somtimes Skype has been known to work….

Thanks for the reply - forgot to mention I am on a Community dish - none of my neighbours are having problems !!
Also, occasionally I can watch these channels no problem. As I said I have changed the box, albeit for one of the same make/manufacturer so either the box type is an issue or both boxes have the identical issue which doesn’t seem plausible.
Have also tried resetting the box - cleared all the recorded programmes - still no joy

As with most things, some Sky boxes are better than others….I have found that a Sky+ box with the card slot on theleft or middle of the front panel works very well with weaker signals. A Sky+box with the card slot on the right hand side of the front panel performs not so good.

Hopefully you have two new cables from the community system to your box, and the installers did not just use old existing cable…
Try your box out on one of your neighbours. If it works ok, then try their box on your system.
If it is not hte box that is at fault then the cabling from the system is not good.
