I wonder if there any websites which get the level of detail like the old travel guides like Lonely Planet, The Rough Guide or DK PUBLISHING.
There are only a few real good websites about spain in my opion:
- Of course wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain, although much information it is not really needed as a tourist for example the development of population in a region or city. Nice
but you are not waiting on this information at the morning before leaving you hotel.
- spain.info http://www.spain.info/ Probably the best site about spain, I’ve found a lot info there. Although the navigation is really astonishing good only short
text is writen about a region or tourist attraction. If you compare it with a old travel guide less information is found, although the info which has to be actual (opening times) are of course much better
on a website (if it’s updated).
Then there are some less good websites but still quite good.
- vacation2spain. http://www.vacation2spain.com .The geograhical browsing is a very nice feature (by means of clickable maps and google maps). It goes even to the municipal level (an amazing 8000 subpages). But the information is quite short and it’s more a portal I think.
- Red2000 http://www.red2000.com. A little similar with vacation2spain but maybe more a old-fashioned website.
Then you have a lot of websites with general info about spain: cia-factbook, lonely planet, info-please and so on. Nice to read but too general information. Not speaking of the dozens of websites with fragmented info about only a few cities, regions or themes.
My question is, are there any websites with real good background info about every region of spain (and not only the main-attractions) with good maps and accurate info. Thanks in advance.
