I wonder what problems I may encounter bringing a 4 year old SUV from
the US to Spain.
Apart from changing the lens at the rear, are there any other major changes
needed?
Also, does anyone have an idea on import tax consequences?
Will it need a test? Any ideas on insurance?
I wonder if it’s worth bringing the vehicle at all?
Any help it greatly appreciated.

Frankly I would doubt it I say the same to Brits OK your vehicle at least is LHD but after taxes, transport costs, bureaucratic processes etc etc I would very much doubt it can possibly be worth it.

Thanx

You’ll be spending 4x more on gas and/or diesel, and where will you park it? I’d love to bring my car over, but it just isn’t worth it for me.

Hi Caddy - I think you are going to be on a very steep learning curve!

Import taxes - can’t quote an amount as I have never done it.

Paperwork - boy are you going to love Spain!

At this point I will handover to the Americans that visit this site….........

Hi ROB1305
Yes, it is going to be a learning curve, for sure!
Thats why I thought perhaps this forum can help
me before I make too many bad mistakes.
So far, this forum is great..
Maybe some Americans might respond if they
have been thru this process.

We haven’t ever taken a car to EU but have driven plenty. I don’t know how big your SUV is but I think it will be hard to manuever & park. You see a few here and there but I think locals drive smaller vehicles for a reason. That being said we are renting a large van/SUV because we will have our stuff(for 1 yr) & 3 big dogs when we arrive. If you’re coming after 16Mar. I can let you know anything else I find. Gas IS expensive.

Kind Regards,

Heather

Hey Heather
Thanx for the reply..
I would really like to hear your input once you
arrive and have some knowledge of problems
and such.
I too have large dogs and really wanted my SUV.
But I will keep tabs here and hope for your report
sometime down the road..
Thanx much

Lou

FOG light on the rear ?? Your 4-ways need to be amber not red PLUS not on the same bulb as the brake bulbs also…
& USA emission regs aren’t as tight as the EU.

DSB.
