Do Spanish companies usually refer to salaries as annual before taxes (like in the USA)? Or is it referred to another way, such as net annual or net monthly?

Also, Do you have any idea what the average salary would be for a senior graphic designer with 7-10 years experience in Madrid or Barcelona? I have started to talk with a few potential employers and I am being pushed to give them salary expectations, and I have no idea what to say at this point. And I’ve already side-stepped the issue a few times.

I greatly appreciate any advice you can give me!

Im a graphic designer with 5 years experience. Usually they talk in numbers before taxes are deducted. Also I think the most you could dare to earn would be 30 thousand a year as a senior talented designer. Having said that, its VERY rare to find such a well paid post. Bear in mind the average wage in spain is between 12 and 15 thousand a year! A good starting wage would be around 22 thousand. The best place to have a look and see whats on offer is http://www.infojobs.net/  its will give you an idea of the wage bracket. You will probably be very shocked by how little they offer. Expect to see PLENTY of full time positions offered for less than 15 thousand.
