Despite the fact that Spanish food is quite tasty, I must admit that every now and then the capricho for a homemade (American) dish hits me every now and then. I head to the local supermarket with my ideas and their Spanish translations written down, but occasionally come up short. I’m cooking a big meal for my inlaws tomorrow, and was dying to make crab cakes but couldn’t, for the life of me, remember where I had once seen cheapish canned crab. (Nor do I have the “pasta” to buy four big ol’ crabs here.)

I was thinking that maybe some others here have their own home country -> Spain adaptations, and would be willing to share.

Day before yesterday I did Lamb stew with carrots, celeriac, potatoes, swede, butterbut squash.

Left over today was the stew less the lamb, so added some chorizo, morcilla, garlic and butter beans turning it into a Fabada.

Kinda Spaningles.
