This article is from the Sun, but should not be ignored and I’m sorry its not good news and shows some lack of help from both the UK govt and the Spanish.

A BRITISH gran and her grandson made homeless in Spain have been classed as asylum-seekers and refused help after returning to the UK.

Penniless Lorraine Marsland, 52, and Dylan, ten, are not entitled to go on the housing register.

The pair have British passports but a council told them they could not help because Lorraine, who spent 23 years in Spain, does not have “habitual resident status”.

After 23 yrs in Spain she has found out how little help there is availableto people in need in Spain, not just foreigners but this happens too Spaniards, who rely on family when situations become serious.

My point being that if your going to Spain its really important to make sure your not risking everything on a dream, its important to be successful in Spain, there is no buffer to fall back on, yes you can return to the UK, but will you return to a normal life or one faced with children in care and you living in a hostel.

Moving to Spain is serious and as such should not involve risks, if it does, think long and hard folks…....

I left my job and Spain as I was unhappy with the life it provided. Not due to financial issues, although I was paid less in Spain and worked longer hours.

I’m not a lazy person, the timetable, heat and working in a huge tourist area got too me.Plus my wife was fed up with living with idiots, coming from Madrid she was reluctant to move into what they deem a third world region.

All good reasons for sure… (Do you think you’ll ever come back to Spain) ??
Cheers.

The one expat I no that broke all the rules 9 yrs ago and still has a business in Spain offered me a job anytime I feel the need to return, that was in February.

Personnally I’d be back in Spain tomorrow, but not Andalucia, not to live, we are returning in June to visit friends for a week, I may change my mind as soon as we land, who knows, Spain is a funny place for sure.My OH says I can go, but she won’t be, so I guess I’d have to divorce first.
