Trying to find info on prescriptions abroad.

Is it common to have your US doctor write a script that can be filled in Spain? Or should I have my meds mailed to me? Typically I get 90 days at a time, but I will be abroad for 10 months and highly doubt they will let me have that much at one time.

Thanks for your help—

I have heard that it is illegal to mail prescriptions into Spain. I am in the same position and have brought enough for my stay. But they should be able to refill prescriptions.

I was in a similar bind when I studied in Argentina. My insurance company allowed me to fill 6 months. They paid for 3 up front, and reimbursed me for the next 3 when I got back. If you call and ask about a vacation override they might be able to help.
