Hi all!

My wife, a filipina by the way, has had an offer of work and was told by her prospective employer that she needed a “Tarjeta de Demanda”.

She has obtained one this morning , but we both don’t really know what it is.

Can anyone explain what this card is?

Gracias,

Dave

pendeen,
if i am not mistaken, your wife is unemployed but is not a demandante de empleo.
i think if an employer hires somebody who is unemployed the employer gets some discount.
now your wife, if she has a residence and work permit, but she is not working right now, she can prove she is unemployed and is looking for a job by having a tarjeta de demanda de empleo.
the employer gets some kind of a reward by hiring a demandante de empleo.

Thanks for your reply. Yes my wife was without work and without this card before her employer asked for it.

So having a tarjeta de demanda just means that that person is seeking work?

Does a person with this card automatically receive money from the Government or is there more form filling to be done?

let me see,
does your wife have a resident and work permit?
has she worked in spain legally before? how long?
how long has she been in spain?
if she worked before, was she fired or did she resign?

Hi,

My wife has a residency card valid for 5 years. She is a Spanish resident, having earned that right from being a wife of a British Citizen, resident in Spain. I presume she has the right to work. She doesn’t have a work permit as such.

No she hasn’t worked before in Spain before.

She has been in Spain for 1 year 6 months

She hasn’t worked before in Spain.

pendeen,
a worker who loses his job in spain gets unemployment benefit depending on the number of months he or she has worked.
he or she does not receive the benefit if he or she voluntarily quits the job.
the amount depends on the basic salary in the nomina, and the number of months of receipt depends on the number of months worked.
a jobless person receiving the dole can lose the dole if he or she refuses a job offer several times or if he or she refuses courses offered by the social security.

Thanks again.

So I conclude that the tarjeta de demanda is just a card that shows that you have registered at the unemployment office.

And also my wife and I are not entitled to any financial help from the Spanish government as we have not paid into the system here.
