This is the best site I’ve come across so far - well done!

I am British, presently residing in Thailand and my Thai partner and I wish to move to Spain (Barcelona). We have a civil partnership registered 2 years ago at the British Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam. I lived in Spain before and have property in Sitges, Barcelona. I am also ‘empadronado’ in the town and have a NIE, bank account etc. From what I can gather we need to get a ‘regrupacion ‘visa from the Spanish embassy in Bangkok. Is anyone in a similar position? I have the following specific questions:

1. Can we travel together to Spain or do I have to demonstrate that I have lived in Spain for a period of time?
2. How long does this type of visa take to acquire?
3. What do I have to prove?
  - civil partnership
  - escritura de la casa
  - empadronado certificate
  - bank account details (how much cash?)
  etc etc ?????
4. What is the residence situation?
  - does my Thai partner have the right to work in Spain?
  - can you work for cash easily???

Any help will be greatly apprciated

Thank you
He is an excellent Thai chef and masseur .... what are the work opportunities??

estuardo,
first of all you have to consult with the spanish consulate in bangkok how they can recognize your british civil partnership document for them issue your thai partner an eu citizen family resident visa.
the visa allows the holder to apply for residency card and work right away, after some paperwork.
