I have bought an item on ebay in Spain, however the price quoted by Correos is out of this world. Also they refuse to carry anything more than 25kg.

Does anyone know of a courier or parcel delivery service that can deliver my item weight 31kg from Benidorm to Cadiz, at a reasonable cost?

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Just checked on the UPS website,  you didn’t state the size of the item, but a 31 kg package from benidorm centre to cadiz centre it came out with the cost of ?48.24 for their standard service (2 days).

Other courier services around:-

MRW ,Offex Easi Mail,  Quicksilver Couriers Espana,  DHL

Hope this helps.  If not, for 2 tanks of fuel and ?100 for driving for 2 days my husband said he will take it!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest you contact IMX, International Mail Express. There are many services available in Spain but one of the longest established english speaking service that I have used is based in Malaga. They have sorted out all sorts of courier and mail requirements for me all over Spain. I have used them for sending from the Costa del Sol or collecting Ebay parcels to and from the UK.

Their website is www.imxmail.com and their phone number is 95 204 1222

Good luck

It’d be worth looking on eBay itself for courier/delivery service, that’s how we’ve often found the best deals,

You will have realised that the internal courier delivery service within Spain is very competitive.  No one in Spain can fail to see the 20 companies or so that operate in their area.  Most are on a franchise basis so that the service is only as good as weakest link (which will be your parcel).  http://www.citibox.es will give you the best rates over the internet and will give you a proper English speaking service and take full responsibility for your package.

Expat help, will give your recommedation a try.
We have a parcle to send to UK, just over the 4kg limit that Ofex stipulate (Eu 25 for up to 4kg, but over this it needs to be measured, etc etc and the prices are going through the roof).
I would also like to send books/heavier items via some kind of parcle post on regular basis to Uk but have been unable to find affordable co.

Will try above, but any other suggestions welcome!

With all courier services, the amount you pay per kg declines with the overall size of the shipment so instead of sending 5kg which is going to cost you around ?6/kg send 35kg which will cost around ?2/kg.  FYI both Offex Marbella and IMX Marbella use Citibox to send their FedEx parcels.  If you are considering TNT or UPS have a look at this completely scandalous story of how both these companies auction off “lost” parcels.  http://www.goodreason.co.uk/department/tnt-lost-parcels-packages/

Getting parcels from abroad can be a nightmare.
citibox.es say good things, as do some others - dont know myself, but i wish i’d tried them!!

i bought an airbrush from the USA because it was sooooo much cheaper than anyone in europe.
BUT having bought USA stuff from in the UK, and only paid postage, i thought it would be the same. Oh No!

?180 and 3 days to reach Madrid.
Then, another 5 weeks, plus ?90 to actually get it from customs. (from Madrid to Cadiz)
Thats 50% in border taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plus numerous phonecalls, emails, official documents, headaches, curses, hairpulling, etc.

So thank you Spanish Customs: my spanish vocabulary is now full of expletives.

Good Luck.

Hi
I ordered some Harley Davison boots for my husbands birthday from the USA.  This is the second pair we have had he first came to our local PO no problem but this time I have recieved a Aviso de llegada de envio postal international solicitud DUA saying I need to pay import duty, however it does not tell me how much.  I have very little Spanish so I am not sure what to do and the letter does not say how much I need to pay.  I seem to have 3 options.

Could someone take me through the process?

Thanks

Since March 2010 the Spanish government have really clamped down on imports.  You can read the whole thing here http://blog.citibox.es/important-fedex-information-iva-imports-spain/ but basically, if an item is worth ?150 they take the cost of the item PLUS the cost of the shipping and charge duty on that combined figure and then they add all three figures together and charge IVA at 18% on the landed duty-paid cost of the goods.  Anything from or to a company worth more than ?22 is liable for IVA and gifts from individuals worth more than ?45.

Tibbs should take the letter to the local Correos who will be able to relieve her of the necessary money.  If you use FedEx they will bring the parcel to your door but won’t actually hand it over until you pay the duty / IVA in cash.

Because of these problems, many people send their goods to the UK where, although the same rules apply, they are not currently being implemented.  We even have customers in France and Germany who use our UK Address service to get their goods to Spain from where we FedEx them to their door abroad!  It is very much cheaper than paying import duty and we provide the same service, couriered from the UK to Spain and then from Marbella to the customer for ?5 + ?2.50/kg.  Even Spanish people now use this service for internet shopping (and, of course, ex-pats).
