Hola, we have just moved to Granada and are happily freezing at the moment!  However, i have a bored husband who is missing his squash and cycling buddies back in the UK.  We are north of Granada and it would be great if there is a squash club/courts and mad people nearby who like road biking for him to go and play with!  As you can probably tell i am more your vino and tapas sports-person!.  Hope everyone is keeping warm and we would love to hear from other expats in the area, as, at the moment, we appear to be the only brits in town.  Looking forward to hearing from you, Jo

Jo hi;

Cant help on the squash front, but cycling is a pretty big sport especially to the South west of Granada.

Here’s a link to a cycling holiday company based in Alhama de Granada; they may be in a position to advise on Cycling Clubs in the Granada area.

I know there is a sports centre on the way into Granada (Armilla) exit. Its on the right as you go back towards the A-44 after leaving Carrefour Armlla. Don’t know if they have Squash Courts though.

Welcome to Granada by the way; we’ve been here since 2006; halfway up an Alp so its gets pretty damn chilly this time of year. Sheepskin jackets and fleeces for our dogs…

Good Luck…

Hi fb
Many thanks for your response, really appreciated.  Himself disappeared on his bike, somewhat nervously , to explore the area.  I am always up for a trip to Carrefour so we will investigate the sports centre tomorrow.  Funnily enough i saw the cycling holiday website and i did wonder if i should contact them, i will ping them a mail.

Fleeces and Sheepskins all ‘round methinks…although at least it has stopped raining.

Many thanks for the welcome, Jo

Jo;

Strangely enough about ten minutes after I passed the comment about the weather our boiler gave up the ghost! The water here is so hard that they fur up after about 30 months and need replacing because the heater element burns out. So its off to the local ferretaria right now for an ordered in replacement, and then a few hours of manfully struggling to fit the darn thing.
happy days!
