This is a warning to anyone looking to rent living or office space with Mas i Fill. They were not bad getting us into the apartment several years ago even though it was very dirty. They did demand two months rent as a damage deposit and since we were new to the area they demanded another 11 months rent blocked in an account with the bank. It was explained that this money was in case we did not pay rent and they had to spend money to evict us.

Quickly it became clear that this group was not very serious. It took them three year to fix the enter-phone and almost 8 months to replace a leaking toilet. Finally when we decided to leave the apartment we gave them 30 days notice. After we cleaned the apartment we called for an inspection. They said no joint inspection, we just need to bring the keys to the office. I expected that once we turned in the keys they would unblock our 11 months rent and would keep the damage deposit until they inspected the apartment. They kept all the funds and told us they had 30 days to check the apartment and change the billing for the utilities. After thirty days we had no contact from them. The secretary would take a message and no one would call back. Emails were never responded to. Finally, we arrived in their office ready to threaten to get a lawyer. At this point they released our 11 months rent, but said they had not finished changing the utilities so they could not calculate the damage deposit. We were told it would be done the next day. Again another week passed and our calls and emails were never responded to. After going to their office again I was told that it would be done the next day. Two days later a call came to tell us they had calculated the amount they owed us and it would be deposited the next day. We will see when they will actually deposit the money.

We are lucky that we are still in the Barcelona area and were capable of going to their office to demand our money. I could not imagine what it would have been like if we had already left Spain.

An update on the situation for anyone that is interested.  After another week went by and one more visit to their office they finally calculated the refund of the guarantee.  They said all utilities had been changed to their name and everything was all clear.  The next month we recieved bills for both the electricity and gas.  Now one more month later we are still trying to get the utilities transfered over and our 75 Euros paid back to us.  Turns out they did not even request the change until two months after we had left the apartment.  And for some reason the gas company will not accept them as the new name on the account.  These guys are horrible.  Stay away.
