Hi All,

I will be relocating from NYC with my company to Barcelona for 3yrs starting Feb 2011.  I am 28 years old and looking at the Exiample area (per my friend) but I am not sure if this would be the best place.  I am def looking for a place near public transportation and a good social/night life area (as I will be moving by myself).  If you have any insight to good area’s please let me know.

Also, are there any barcelona ex-pats social groups or pages on facebook?

Talk to you soon!

I know for a fact that there are always a lot of expats in Barcelona as a lot of students for example do erasmus years at the University. So hopefully you’ll be able to hook up with people of a similar age!
I would try and live away from the Ramblas as it can be very noisy at night and there are a lot of ‘undesirables’ who live in that area. A good friend of mine moved to Barcelona last year so I will see what area she is living in. I know shes about 15 minute walk from the Sagrada Familia though but not sure what that area is called!

Hey,

I’m also moving to Barcelona at the end of March/April…I have been told Eixample esquerra is a nice gay friendly gracia is rough n ready in a good way and cheap,  poble nou is close to beach and cheap with bars clubs restaurants so young and trendy but not so safe at night and quite far from centre…that’s from my friend who used to live there anyways…

Let me know if you find a facebook page or any good websites for renting property pls as I will be looking as well.

Thanks

Scottishtothebone: that sounds about right actually. We covered this topic in a LOT of depth on our where to live in Barcelona page too!
