Have you had a look on webs like fotocasa, idealista, enalquiler? Some of my friends used them to find a home. About zones it depends on where your girlfriend and you are going to take the job because of the distance.

the problem with taking a hotel for a few weeks is our dog, i’m sure we can find a dog friendly hotel but i’d rather have a house more or less finalised before we arrive as leaving a 6 month old springer spaniel in a hotel room wouldn’t be fair on the dog.

my girlfriend will be teaching right in the city centre so we can live anywhere so we’d like to find a nice suburb as the commute should be easy.

thanks for the replies.

Well, I understand you!

I have dogs and I know how we care for them (as so as they do for us)

Perhaps you can rent a vacational apartment for a week or some days in webs like “Niumba”, “Rentalia”... I’ve used them so many times.

I am not friendly with the idea to rent a permanent house without seeing it before. I have to see it, what condition is it. For example, if you rent an apartment which is very noisy… In pictures you can’t know! :s

There are also so many “hotels for dogs”. I am not able to recommend any because I don’t live in Madrid, but it could be a great idea while you are searching a home. You can plan many appointments with agents before you are coming.

Once time I went on holidays without having nowhere to stay, me & my boyfriend went to the real state agents with our dog. It’s a way to assure that you can have dogs there and he’ll like his new home XD I know this isn’t the way to go, but our dog was a puppy and we were worried to let him alone at car, or renting a place online where he couldn’t stay in the balcony because he could fall down, etc.

Do you mean Temporary Employment companies?

In that case, some of the most knowed are: “Unique”, “Randstad”, “Addecco”. And if you want to search yourself you can try “infojobs”, “monster”...

In Spain there are a lot of people without employment. If you don’t find one quickly, don’t be desesperated… It’s hard nowadays, but Madrid is big.

long term would be ideal but at the minute i just want to make sure we both start working as quickly as possible so we dont eat into our savings too much and hospitality work is generally easy to come by and easy to find in the summer.

i’ll register with the companies you mentioned and see what happens, thanks again for the information.
