To those people employed in the Financial Sector i.e. Investment Banking / Insurance etc, was the background credit checks done - they do them here in London - my credit rating is crap!!!

Please advice.

and yes do them in Gib aswell , most are done in the uk , due to it english banks and companys that are base in GIB

Do you know what happens if the check comes back bad, like the employer finds out you have County Court Judgement etc, i.e. you have overdue debts still to be paid off?  These checks are usually done when you already start the job, would they sack people?

Might not even have to go through all this as this week found out salaries are bad, I’d have to take a massive drop in salary according to one recruitment agency that I have been in touch with this week, argh!!!!  :(

I work in an investment bank in London, and my credit history came back and it was bad, I was out of work for 6 months when the recession hit us in 2009, a lot of people where in the same boat!  My line manager spoke to me as HR had mentioned it to her.  She smoothed it over and it was fine.  I can’t assume its always going to be that way.

I look forward to hearing what your friend says.  Might as well researched everything now before making the move!
