Can someone tell me if what I have heard is true. I have been told that you cannot use a British TV in Spain.? So my questions are.

1. Can I bring my HD Plasma TV to Spain and use it.

2. How do I get SKY in Spain.

HD is a (High-definition) HDTV broadcasts had one stander in Europe since the early 1990s . same in UK as in spain and all over EU but in Ireland HD is now better then any ones as that used HD1 with mpge 4 audio as we used 2

It used to be true that UK TV’s didnt work properly out here but thay was in the days of analogue TV. Nowadays all Europrean sets should work without difficulty. For terrestrial stations you may need a TDT box. TDT is the Spanish equivalent of Freeview. If your TV has built in Freeview you wont need a TDT box but you may have trouble receiving stations on Channel 69. You will not receive any English programming on TDT. Spanish Digital TV carries a lot of international programming however which in the majority of cases can be switched to English or the original language.

If you really must add to the Murdock empires coffers you can get SKY here but generally speaking a large dish is required up to 2.4 metres in diameter, depending on your location.

Beware of cowboys out here; there is no official SKY coverage and anyone claiming to be an authorised SKY engineer is just such a person.

Dish size required depends where exactly in Spain the OP intends to move to, which is the most crucial peice of information required before anyone can advise on dish size!
In Barcelona all UK TV channels can be received 24/7 on a 80cm dish.
Then in some areas, even a 2.4m dish will not bring in all UK TV channels.

The only thing with TVs and Spain is the power requirements. In many cases most TV require or like at least 220v.
Now power in spain is not the best, and power can drop when pool pumps, air con, ovens etc are on, so the juiceflow going to the TV can drop towards 200…not good for the components. Some form of UPS or Sai can help, as these can draw power stored from the battery to try and make up any loss. Surge protectors is a MINIMUM requirement for the flat screens, UPS / Sai are better.
