Hi,
I’ve been in Madrid since March (5 months) and have been told the earliest appointment I can get for my NIE is November. However, a friend of mine who moved from Argentina 4 weeks ago has managed to get his already despite not being a European Union citizen. Does anyone know why? And is there any chance of getting my number sooner?

Many thanks

Not sure as I live in Andalucia. But does everything close/slow down for July/August?

What does the assistant on the desk for appointments say?

Try again?

Good luck.

yeah it was the same for me in madrid. i arrived in april and had an appointment in august. so i just went along to the the tax place… the address is guzman el bueno 139 (enter turn right and take a ticket for the B desks). only had to wait 10 mins and filled in some form, they told me to come back 2 days later and gave me a temporary number that last for 3 months.

after that i moved to mallorca and its a lot easier here

Hi, thanks for the message.  I was given an appointment for November but my friend who has been here only for 4 weeks is picking up his NIE next week. I don’t understand.

Thank you for your comments. I will try that place on Tuesday. Yes, I’ve really enjoyed being in Madrid so far, but the bureaucracy is the only thing that’s doing my head in a bit too much.

Welcome to Spain!
Anyone will tell you it is red tape all the way.
(That is why some of us pay for gestors even when you can ‘do it yourself;’)

It is a pain I know, but this is the way they choose to do it, and I guess we can’t change
the rules 😉

Once you have got over this hurdle (and the next, and the next), hopefully you can
enjoy the bits in-between 😊

Hi. I’d like to know how you got on with this. I’m in the same situation, I have to wait 5 months for the NIE appointment (DEC 21st). If you had any luck going to the office in Guzman el Bueno 139, please let me know, thanks.

Spain works like this.. as long as you?re “in the system” you?re fine. Just have all your papers with you.

August.. well nobody works! Great time for playa pero Madrid no hay!
