I want to extend my student Visa until december 2011….

Note: My classes are getting over on June 30th after that I have to just work on thesis and present my thesis on Septmeber or December 2011

Can somebody please advice me on this???

Hey there

last year i did the exact same thing…my classes for the master and ended and i extended my visa for another year so as to work on my thesis while in spain. I had no problems.

I’m not sure where you are, but in my university, i was given a form detailing all the necessary paperwork i needed to turn in. My university allowed me to turn everything in to them in the Relaciones Internacionales department. They, in turn, contacted the police and presented my papers, the police later got in contact with me, as they had done when i originally applied for my student NIE, and i had to go and give my fingerprints again.

As for the papers you’ll need to turn in, i was required to present pretty much the same type of paper i had when i originally applied for the visa: proof of economic means, medical insurance, letter from your master’s or doctoral program, etc. Like i said, i got the original list from my university.

Try talking to the director of your program or the people at the international relations department or whoever is in charge of international students, they should be able to help you. This type of thing is very common so I’m sure some of your professors or some secretary will know exactly what to tell you.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Ah! another thing i forgot…you say your visa expires in august 2011…i believe (not 100% sure but i believe) that it is necessary to apply NO LATER than 15 days before the expiration date. Even though your visa may expire before you finish all the paper work, this is not a problem, at least not for me. As long as you present all of the papers before the expiration!

Like i said, if you need more help, let me know!

hey there

i never had a scholarship, i have worked a bit here and there to pay for things, but not 100% legal. one way is you can present your bank records showing you have a steady income. this can be done by getting your spanish bank to print up a transaction history or whatever. although if you’re not working or you don’t have a steady stream of income, this can be a problem. if your parents or any other person is helping you out, by putting money into an account, you can also present the bank records showing this.

if neither of the examples above apply to you, you can get your legal guardian or the person you depend financially on (whether it’s 100% true or not) to write and sign a letter saying that they take full financial responsibility for your education, travel and everyday expenses, etc. This letter must be signed by the person, and then you must get it sealed with the Apostille of the Hague seal. you can get them to send it to you here in spain, and once here, you can take it to be translated into spanish. The letter, with the apostille and the translation can serve as proof of your economic means. This is what I have done the 3 times i’ve applied for a student visa and i’ve never had problems. one time i had to represent it because i hadn’t translated it. It may seem like a lot of work, but it’s not too bad. Luckily in my city my parents could get the apostille on the letter the same day, since it’s the capital. You may have to have someone send it to the secretary of state or whatever you authenticate it, but it shouldn’t take long.

let me know if you have anymore questions.

Much thanks for the reply…

I think I can show my previous bank statement… which has a very steady flow of money 😊
But if asked for future financial aid…I just might stumble!!! I’m not from very well off family….

better I will take the bank statement tomorrow to officina de extranjerous and cross verify with them before applying…

THANKS A TON for responding
