We have been legal residents of Spain for 10 years now, the last 5 yrs. of which under permanent residency. That 5 year period is now drawing to a close and it’s time to renew. I would understand that our permanent residence status continues unabated and we would now only need to renew our Tarjetas de Identificaci?n Extrajero, which can be done at the police station using Modelo EX17, with a minimum paperwork, rather than having to apply for a renewal of the status through the normal residencia approval process. Can anyone confirm or advise otherwise?
