I am spending the summer in Barcelona.  I am hoping to get some freelance tutoring jobs to supplement my spending.  But I was curious what would be the cost of living for me, in case I don’t find any tutoring jobs.  I want to have an idea of my weekly or monthly budget.

I do plan on do a lot of walking around Barcelona and exploring on my own.  But obviously, I will want to eat out and go out a few times a week.  My apartment and those bills are taken care.  I’m looking more at like the day to day living, going out, grocery shopping, etc.  And any suggestions for saving money?

When I first got to Madrid to study my master, I got by with the following per month:

Rent (room sharing incl bills) 350?
Groceries 80?
Mobile PAYG: 10?
Entertainment (going out, eat out, etc) 150?
Transport: 55? monthly 2 zones

Total: 645?

The Entertainment part is really a question of self control! Even my 150? a month is very frugal spending! But i must admit, it did dent my travelling opportunities a lot because I just couldn?t budget it in. So it was more local Spanish pueblo trips by bus or hitching a ride with mates.

Club Guestlists and being female really helps with the going out costs. :p
