Hi there,

I need to apply for a residencia certificate in Madrid as a EU citizen.

It’s probably been asked a 1000t times over but can somebody explain the process?
It seems to be described differently anywhere?

As far as I understand

I need to fill out the EX 19 (https://sede.policia.gob.es/portalCiudadano/extranjeria/EX19.pdf)
Still learning spanish but I am guessing what it means
original and copy of passport

possibly passport photos
possibly stamps to send the NIE back to you?

also is this the correct office for EU citizens?
Calle General Pardinas 90 or Plaza del Campillo del Mundo Nuevo 3.

See my response to your other thread…

The link for EX-19 doesn’t work… don’t think that’s the form you want anyway; pretty sure its the EX18 referred to in the other post

Cant help with the address… not my area!

Thanks for your advice! Managed to get the NIE, Residency Certificate, and Social Security all yesterday morning without an appointment 😊

Also apparently they have news regulations and now need Empadronarse forms but I wasn’t asked for one.

Dreamer87…

Pleased it all worked for you; maybe you can answer a couple or three questions from me?

1) Did you need the Residencia Cert to obtain the Social Security number? (What documentation was required?)

2) Was the residencia procedure in line with my suggestion ie., present two copies of EX18, passport and copy, officer issues Modelo 790, then off to bank to pay, then return to collect certificate?  If not details please…

3) Did you need photographs?

This is for my benefit and to be able to answer the questions when they next arise on the forum.

Thanks.

Of course!

1) Needed the residencia certificate and my passport. They made a copy of the certificate but I had the impression
I was supposed to bring a copy.

2) For the residencia I needed one EX18, one copy of my passport, and modelo 790 for 10.20 euro. Also I didn’t need
a appointment. Well I probably needed it but I went without one. I was the first person in line (literally B001) and when he asked
well I just lied and said I had a appointment. He asked me when I made it and my answer just was ehhhhh august? He went for it.

3) nope no photographs. The only photographs I actually needed were for the metro pass.

let me know if you have any more questions!

Last question do you know how to get european health insurance card?

Hi… Firstly thanks for the details…

Re EHIC… used to be issued by the Spanish Social Security office BUT…

Last I heard is that if you are a Brit (and I assume you are), you need to apply to Newcastle directly since Spain does not issue EHIC cards to non-Spaniards anymore.

I would suggest you give the EHIC Enquiry line a ring on 0044 191 212 7500 or 0044 191 218 1999

Also this website has more details…

http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcareabroad/EHIC/Pages/EUregulations.aspx

From recent experience when we had to renew our UK issued EHIC cards, I know Newcastle will only send to a UK address. A friend or relative will do if you don’t have a permanent UK addy. Issue time is approx 3 to 5 days.

Hope this helps.
