Hi there,

Am moving to Madrid next week and I understand it’s a must for students to have international health insurance. Am getting conflicting viewpoints about type and extent of coverage, is there a definitive guideline for what type of medical insurance is accepted? I will be studying for one year.

ask at you student office in your college , that sould know what type off cover you need ....  If your non EU yes please have it ......  even the briths here been told take it out ... and live here

You can?t assume your insurance will go with you when you travel. It?s very important to find out before you leave. You should ask your insurance company two questions:

1) Does my policy apply when I?m outside the United States?
2) Will it cover emergencies like a trip to a foreign hospital or an evacuation?

I’ve spoken to my university and it’s perhaps advisable to apply for medical insurance in Spain itself.
