Hi Everyone,

My Dad moved over to Spain 4 years ago just near to Fortuna and in the early part of 2013 I’m making a 30 minute documentary on expats living in Spain.

My general question is do the members on this forum think that a documentary about UK expats living in Spain be good to watch? And what kind of content would you want to see?

Any thoughts and suggestion would be well recieved.

John

Why not John.. It has been done before.. Many of us get UK TV (via satellite).. so would likely watch…

Possible angle at present though, is how everyone is coping during the crisis.
Too many sad tales to put in half an hour though!

But maybe you will do another view…

Hello John:

Not wishing to put a dampener on your idea, but programmes on expats have been done to death, whether in documentary or soap opera form.  Not to mention articles in the press, usually critical of Spain.  And not to mention a plethora of whimsical books.

The angle would have to be very very different, John, to make it interesting.  You’d have to look through what is already there (total boredom awaits you lol),  and then decide how your idea could be different.

All the best anyhow!

Well, John, you’ve seen “elsewhere” the sort of reactions there are.

You will need to come up with an inventive, fresh and new aproach, something not done before.

What are YOUR own ideas?

Hi all,

Thank you for your replies so far.

The film is a conversational style where people living and working in the area will be interviewed about their experiences.

What I don’t want to do is rose tint anything or critique unnecessarily as most documentaries tend to.

John:

Tamara Essex runs an excellent blog.  Have a look through it.

Just try to make the documentary different from anything that has gone before.
