Hi ,Don’t know if anyone can help but my family and I are moving soon and my in-laws would like to come with us.
The problem being, my mother in law has had breast cancer although she is now ok she is on a tablet called Arimedex which she has to have for another 2 years.  Her doctor has said she cannot live abroad whilst she is on this as the drug is so expensive or something.  She is a pensioner so I thought she would be entitiled to the same treatment in Spain.
Please can anyone clarify this.

It is true that pensioners have an automatic right to entry into the Spanish national health system. But I think that treatments and which drugs (and what they are called) are approved for use in Spain may be different. I have a friend with a pharmacy and I will ask him if that specific drug is available in Spain on the national health and get back to you.

OK the news looks promising - I have been to the pharmacy and he has checked in the computer. It appears the same drug is available but has a slightly different name here - Arimidex. It comes in a packet of 28 for an over the counter price of 130 euros around 93 pounds. The good news is you should be able to get it through the national health and only pay a contribution of 2.64 euros around 1.90p

But obviously it is very important that you have this confirmed by your local Spanish health centre and remember things may vary in different regions of Spain.

Good luck.

Hi to Robi,
Thanks very much for that info about Arimidex and for putting yourself out to find out for me.
What a brilliant site this is.
I have passed this on and she is going to check again with her doc
I noticed you are with Best Choice Villas, do they also rent properties?
Regards
Danbec

Hi Danbec,

OK no problem, glad to help.

Rentals - No not really, Best Choice Villas is primarily a sales company - however see our sites links page -  visit Crossley Villa rentals - they come recommended.

If that does not work out we have other contacts.
