I’m thinking about moving to Spain in a few months with a friend and I just want a few opinions on where abouts in Spain would be a nice quiet-ish place to live and good prices to rent a flat. I can’t speak Spanish…. yet.
And is it easy to find work without much experience? I have experience in PC Repair and Web/Graphic Design but I wouldn’t call myself an expert at top company web design with all the programming languages. Warehouse work would be nice for me I suppose.
Would I be able to cope with a standard job with all the bills?

Are Valencia and Alicante nice places.
Thank You.
In my personal experience getting a decent job, especially in computers is tough. Then again, I live in Madrid. Renting here is cheaper compared to other places (again my personal experience) But it all depends on what you think a reasonable price is.
I don’t know what your background is (professionally, education) but teaching English could be a good option. There is a successful language school here that will train you (you dont have to have a teaching certificate, in fact they prefer it that way) and the pay is good. (almost 20?/hr. starting pay) The thing is, you will be autonomo and need to have all of your paperwork in order, Visas, NIE, etc.

Thanks for your reply Klugy, I’m guessing I will need to know Spanish in order to teach English, because as I said before, I don’t know Spanish.

I will be moving from London (UK).
You don’t need to know Spanish, in fact, they prefer it that way so the students cannot cheat.
Oh, and TJ, Andalucia/Costa Blanca is still a few years behind the world in terms of Graphic Design and Web stuff, so your junior skills might yet be very useful. Look up CB Web Solutions on the forum here (I think they’re called that).
Yes it would be nice, but it will not happen, they have other things to do, not like us lot. Take a look at the local papers, they are mostly on line and see what is available, use the internet to look into the owners of the businesses in Costa Balanca and contact them direct. Or excuse the pun, but take the bull by the horns and set up on your own doing web sites for small businesses all over europe as from home, it does not matter where you are.

Have you started your Spanish yet?
Dave
I have set up a website but I need to think of a domain name that I can live with.
I just got a CD set, “Learn Spanish in Your Car” 😊
