If I criticise Malatesta’s promotion of right-wing propaganda s/he will no doubt put me down as being part of the politically correct conspiracy. It’s ironic that racists are prepared to move abroad and become foreign immigrants in Spain because they’re unhappy about non-native British folk moving into their own country. “They come over here, they don’t pay taxes, they use the health service and they don’t even learn the language” - that’s the Brits on the costas all over.  Seriously though SpainExpat - do you want this poison here?

What “social situation” would that be, then?  Anything to do with the number of foreigners in the city? If you object to the multi-cultural nature of the London populace - of which millions of Londoners are proud, by the way - you as a non-native should feel duty-bound to leave.

As long as they’re not breaking the rules (and willing to discuss their sometimes hateful comments) and treat us with due respect, then I say let them speak. You and I might not agree with what they’re saying, but if we read carefully sometimes we learn a thing or two. I know I have (but not necessarily about their point). Diversity of opinion is a good thing, just as you’d say diversity of ethnicity is.

Malatesta asks if I’ve read the taxi article - well I have now, and it appears to be trying to make a story out of nothing.  There’s a scheme to recruit more black and Asian people to drive black cabs?  So what?  Maybe there should be a scheme to attract more women, too. Cab drivers can afford second homes in Spain and are buying them?  So are lots of people. There has been a programme to recruit a more representative quota of non-whites into the Met? Eminently sensible, as people from the left, right and centre of politics would concur. But I’m more interested in why you say that the “social situation” in London is “appalling” and why you can’t recognise the irony of white racists leaving Britain to get away from “foreigners”, only to become foreigners themselves in another country. Even the thickest fascist could see the stupidity in that one….

Expatriator, yep, give ‘em enough rope and all that is a commendable tactic, usually.  However Malatesta’s original postings are not comments, but simply links to dodgy hate journalism, and I’m not sure you want to encourage that.  Mind you, I’m clearly making it worse by rising to the bait, for which I apologise.
