Hi All 😊

Just left my current job - and fancy doing something different in 2008 - never been to Spain before but would like to move there for a year - somewhere likely in the Costa Del Sol - I have no ties etc and enough cash to last me a year I reckon . I’m looking for:

* Plenty of English speaking people / ex pats (hence costa del sol) - large town preferred / close by
* Cheap Accomodation - apartment studio flat would do
* Good internet access / post office as run a small internet based biz
* Lots to do - tourist / fitness club / sports (need to lose weight!)
* lots places to visit & eat - including trips to other countrys maybe - so good public transport where poss
* Sunny & Warm 😊
* Maybe a good marketplace (things to sell on ebay?) - plus good healthy food

ps what might the work prospects be there - I’m an accountant here in the UK - and would like to spend some time out in the sun 😊 - its too cold here!

Can anyone suggest any suitable towns to be based at?

Many thanks

David 😊

A few places come to mind:
Number 1 on my list is Gibraltar - you would have no problem finding work and you won’t have to switch currency or language, rental prices can be a bit high but you can always live in a nearby Spanish village and cycle into Gib. I lived and worked in Gib for 2 years absolutely loved it, some people i know absolutely hated it, - worth a visit…
Fuengirola - huge expat community although mostly retired I think - proximity to airport - a large town so you can get everything..
Puerto Banus/Marbella - both a bit more pricey probably than Fuengirola but definitely nicer, they’re a bit further away from the airport.
La Duquesa - close to Manilva is another option, falls right between Gibraltar airport and Malaga Airport

Note however that although it’s not as cold as UK it does get cold on the Costa del Sol, usually day time temp will not be below 8-9 degrees in the winter though, many places don’t have heating but that can be easily fixed with portable electrical heating.

Hope this info helps.

Just for the record! - there are plenty of expats on the Costa Blanca and rentals etc are probably cheaper!
