hi there you have to leave your sky card on and continuing paying your subscription as if you were in the uk.  I have the digital tv out here though and have sports channels, hubby and son still manage to watch all the footy channels and we even get setanta when big games are on, think it costs about 18e per month

Hi all,

I have just has sat TV fitted by a Company called eurosat, I found them very good, very helpful and understanding when we found that the roof access door had been locked and the locks changed so the could not get onto the roof to put up the dish (sorted now), we paid 480 installation and 9 euro per month for 10 channels.

You’ll be amazed how your lifestyle changes out here, and how little time you spend indoors…. so why not save the money and use a local bar - means you’ll meet more people as well.

You’ll often find that if so desired, you can actually watch more live English Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup football on Spanish digital television, than you can on English television. For example, I watched the Man Utd v Tottenham game live on TVE1 on standard digital tv here, live 3pm (4pm here) kick-off, which was’nt actually screened live back in the UK.

I just have a bog standard set-top box, just like you can get back in the UK. There are currently about three free sports channels and they all cover the majority of major sports and sporting events. Best of all, it’s free. You can also get Canal+ but you need to subscribe.

I have the free-to-view Spanish digital TV, along with the bog-standard free-to-view Sky channels in my house. Anything else sports, I go to the local bar. Problem is, given the locals are a mix of Real Madrid or Bar?a fans, I’m “forced” to stay in the bar on a Sunday and watch as a neutral!  😉  (Although I do lean towards Bar?a, unless they are playing Man Utd!!)

who are this Man Utd ?

  😉

As for the Bar?a result, wasn’t too upset - Villareal are doing really well this year, but if I was a betting man, I wouldn’t mind seeing the odds on Jose Mourinho at the helm at Bar?a next season.

Hi lizzylogs,

You can do that, bu then you have to have an address in UK, plus it is a requirement of Sky that you have the box connected to the phone line so they can check the system plus upgrade as required. That option I looked at, but found it was easier to get it fitted and operated by a local Company. As I am on the Costa Blanca South, I used a Company called Eurosat, who do a reasonable price for installation, plus a very good price for the monthly rental.

Where are you looking to live?

Hi Dave

We are in Spain and have been here for almost 6 years, what I meant was you could just go to the race meetings instead of watching tmen on the TV, we normally do Jerez, Valencia and Estoril and have just been (couple of weeks ago) to the BSB practice at Tavernas near Almeria

Heh 😉  I’ll be part of a rare breed then, actually from Manchester.

It’s funny really, when I had my season ticket I sat in the North Stand next to a chap, also from Manchester 😛 ), but we used to chuckle about comments like this. Mind you, in front of us was a row of blokes from Dublin, behind us a row of blokes from Norway and either side of us, some Dutch and Finnish. We felt quite lucky that the journey to see our beloved “Red Devils” was a local one. These guys all had to get on a plane, but were there every game without fail. That’s commitment.

As for moaning, that’s the divine right of every football fan.  😊

Hi all,

Well you are a rear package. But as I said, those in Red do moan alot, afterall, just look at fergie and Queresod, or what ever his name is, they have been written to by the FA for moaning about the ref after the game against Portsmouth, I can understan being upset, but you can not win all the time, so they should just acceot it, it is just like Wenger not seeing anything.
