Unbelievable no posts since 26/2 either we have had enough of posts on Telefonica or they must be improving!

I can throw this one in….......

A friend of mine who was moving to a new house and ordering a new telephone tried to cancel the line in his old house - virtually impossible - you think getting a line is tough - try cancelling one!

Rob, best way if you change location is to ask for a “traslado de linea”, this implies they put new line at the new location and cancel the old line. If the “traslado” is at the same area or uses the same central pbx then they will keep the same phone number. This is also cheaper than a new line.

Hi Pieter,

Yes agreed - unfortunately my elderly friend does not speak Spanish and because he was moving to a different area keeping the same number was not an option.

Cancelling his old line was extremely difficult - they wanted a fax confirmation!

The sooner there is some real competition in all areas the sooner we will get a better service - it was the same (worse?) in the UK when BT had a monopoly.

In the end I believe that its only competition that creates a better service and price for the end consumer.

With the “Traslado de linea” even if you don’t keep the same number. The cancelling you request this over 1004 number, you’ll receive a letter by post, it need to be signed and send over fax back to telefonica, this is a hassle.

Hi Rob

Good title.  Last week I applied to have my domestic ADSL line upgraded to 10 megs.  On Friday, an engineer came with a new router.  A bit of a disaster because he didn?t know how to install it.  As he went back to the central to look for another router, I managed to get the thing working and since then it?s been very good.  The throughout seen with FTP is about 4.8 Mbps.  So all in all an interesting experience. I must say that it wasn?t a Telef?nica engineer but one from Metesa.

Hi Don Carlos

Biggest problem with telefonica is not telefonica itself but most of the cases their subcontracted installers, the work for a fixed price per installation, and do the work as quick as they can (this means speed not quality). They normally try to use the same old cable on new installs, if there is some difficult they denegate the order and cancel the job, etc. This is a big problem as they not only work badly, they also have very small knowledge of the operating methods.

LOL - I don’t think Telefonica have got any better - we moved to Monda from Fuengirola 5 months ago and I am still waiting for them to cancel my line - they are stll billing me!

We faxed their document on their request instructing that they cancel it and paid everything they asked us to - every month no change and they were still billing me and the bill had calls on it - we hadn’t lived there for 2 months at this point.

We gave up in the end and are still being billed, every time we call their helpline they piss about and then put the phone down on me.

We passed this to our lawyer in the end.

We are lost in what to do!

hold all bills and fax that you sent to them and sent a letter with profit of post to them at there bill address ( operator Telefonica ) if any one come looking for momeys report then to one the police 2 to the spanish telphone regulator 3 to the EU regulator aswell , you need to date all you bills and faxes http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/policy/ecomm/index_en.htm

26 Mar 2008 ... Spain’s dominant operator Telefonica has sold on 800000 unpaid bills to a debt collector for EUR 200 million ..... so will that ring you ? are you disconnet ?

Hi

I will get hold of the faxed letter (as we had a company attempt to do it for us after my many attempts). I will then post this to them with a letter as suggested

Thanks

I had a little snigger to myself when someone suggested Telefonica were getiin better.
We moved into our house in Feb and applied for the phone line and ASDL the engineer came when they said he would but didn’t speak a word of English and we didn’t understand much Spanish.  He muttered a few things to himself and then asked for El Presidente at which point he dissapeared.  We thought he had gone to get something from his van and patiently waited for him to come back, well over a hour (which he didn’t).  In fact no one came back until the last week of March, he told us that at the time there were no spare lines but he was very proud of the fact that they now had it sorted.  As you see we are now up and running after a glich of about 6 weeks.
This manana attitude never ceases to amaze me.

Brilliant - aren’t they just special? A few ?s waved under their nose always helps and funnily enough spare lines appear - strange that eh. We had to bribe them many years ago because we had a business where we needed 35 lines - PAH!

The engineer pulled that exact line, after we flashed money in front of his face for each individual line he got fitted - they were all fitted that day - after being told we couldn’t have any!

Telefonica engineers are sub contracted and only earn a set amount per line, whether that be a quick switch it on or fitting a new line, therefore the “difficult” ones get put at the bottom of the pile every time.

Glad you got it sorted, we are using Connecta4 as we can’t get Telefonica in the campo! It was installed in quick time 7 years ago, I am having trouble now disconnecting it - driving me crazy, and all the time they are billing me - and for calls! One bill was ?92 yet it had never ever been that the whole time we lived there because all our calls were through Skype or World Connect (99% through Skype though). We will not pay them that, however, as I have a cancellation form signed, dated and faxed to Telefonica in December!
