Hi… I’m a newbie.  I looked through the previous threads and the information given was so helpful.  Unfortunately, because I’m clueless about Barcelona I was wondering if someone could help me.  My husband and I are planning on moving to Barcelona in a couple of months because of his job.  We have school aged children and are thinking about sending them to the American School.  The school suggested Esplugues and Sant Just but I didn’t see any of these areas mentioned.  Since my husband will be traveling a lot for work, my ideal neighborhood would be 1) close to school 2) live around other expats 3) near markets/good restaurants and 4) is a safe and clean neighborhood.  Any help in this area would be totally appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

Hiccups: this thread on where to live in Barcelona should get you started. Specifically I’ve been to Esplugues once and, apart from a good chuckle at the name (sounds like a sneeze), didn’t think much of it. It’s suburbia. Blech.

Sant Just? Never heard of that. Is that short for something?

Yeah, I read through that thread but was still at a lost since it didn’t mention the 2 areas the school recommended.  I guess something I should probably do is get to Barcelona, check out the school and the surrounding locations and look through the areas you had given in details.  I was just hoping to do all my homework before arriving to minimize time.

Thanks!
