Following the problems caused by the sub prime mortgage fiasco which has impacted all of Europe (and beyond) we are starting to get the impression that things are improving. The traffic on our web site is up a lot and the level of enquiries is also up.

The Spanish press are starting to say the worst is over and banks are negotiating mortgages again. We think prices have bottomed out and so now is a good time to grab a bargain.

But be careful if you are buying some builders have gone under and this will cause problems with completions. We are only selling ready now property which we know (through our Spanish partner) is legal and all of the papers (Cedula etc) are available so you will not be left without the papers to get your elec and water contracts etc. Also in our area telephone lines with ADSL are available!

Remember that if you are exchanging pounds to Euros to buy here OK you will get less than 12 months ago but with lower prices and purchase taxes you have not really lost out!

HOLIDAY RENTAL NEWS…...............

One UK based villa holiday specialist company has analysed which areas produced best booking returns for the 2007 villa holidays season, and Spain came out top. Within Spain it’s important to know which regions - and even narrower - which areas are performing best.

On the Spanish mainland the Costa Blanca was the most popular region, the Costa Blanca being made up of areas like Torrevieja, the Jalon Valley and Denia.

Maybe a false dawn,
There is still a major underlying problem that the Spanish Banks assets are based upon overvalued properties, which at the same time are not selling,

to me this is signs that things are gonna get a lot tougher, with money in EU becoming very scarce. Good news of course is that it may well bolster the ?/$ and get us poor old pensioners some money
