Hello Y’all,

Especially those who live in Barcelona. I’ll be moving there at the end of the summer (I think, maybe sooner). Tonight I started looking at some of the apartments listed on barcelona.craigslist.org to see what was out there. I’m not sure how well craigslist represents the living oppurtunities available in Barcelona, but I was curious. So I wonder if any expats can give me some advice on how to go about things.

I’m enrolled in a Spanish language course at the Universidad de Barcelon that starts in mid-september. If I come to Barcelona, how much of a grace period should I give myself to find a place to live? Is it best to do a short term rental until I find a place, stay in a hostel? I’m not sure what to do! I think no matter what it should work out OK, but I am curious about how others have gone about things.

Any advice?

Also, check out this ad: http://barcelona.en.craigslist.es/roo/701043516.html

Is this something I will come across easily? A good deal or bad deal? I know it’s short term so maybe it’s different than the type of situation I’d find looking for a longer term rental.

I know, so many questions! But I’m sure most of you understand!

Thanks a lot!

Stephen

Another useful publication and website is Barcelona-metropolitan.com for flat hunting.

This is an English magazine or those living and working in BCN. Has classified ads and listing on all the things happening.

There is a site called venamicasa.com stay at my house and this is for anyone. You live with a family or not and they have daily rates and weekly rates. Maybe good short term better than a hostal and you get to practise your castellano, although you do know the main language in BCN is Catalan!
