Hi All.  Thanks for all the useful information.  I need advice.  I am considering moving from South Africa to Spain.  I have researched towns from Denia all the way down to Torrevieja.  Denia appeals to me.  There is a new development in Pego and I am considering the purchase of a villa there.  My concern however is that the agent said that Torrevieja is 40min away from Denia but the travel guide says that Alicante is an hour away from Denia.  Now Torrevieja is way at the bottom of the map?  Also the agent said that there are two beaches between 7 and 10 minutes from Pego.  I would really like to have close access to the beach.
I need to be sure about distances.  Also, please some advice on safety and community and cost of living and shopping.  Also would I be able to buy furniture anywhere near Denia or in Denia.  I am a single woman and have concerns like Susan. Is Pego safe? I will also be bringing my two small dogs and two cats.  I could never leave them behind! Thanks. Freetobe.

Hi freetobe,

Maybe Pego to Torrevieja could be done in 40 mins, but it would need to be by jet plane. Pego is inland some 10 Km and would take about 17 mins to get to the closet beach. Pego I understand from staff in Spain is as safe as most places and yes you would be able to buy furniture and there are shops.
