Hi,

I am finally living in Spain, nr. Quesada. I am 56 yrs old and have type 2 Diabetes which is well controlled by tablets/diet. I am not a resident but am renting for 6 months to a year before buying. Whilst my 6 monthly check-up isn?t due ?til Nov. how do I go about ?registering?with a doctor for the check-up, blood tests, etc. or any other matters? Do any of you reading this query use an English/English speaking doctor in my area that I can ?register?with? Can I get my tablets, etc. from the local pharmacy, are they free, do I need a prescription? Can anyone please advise me?

Cheers

Assume you are British and so EU citizen - with the NI contribs you have made in the UK you will get a period of cover in the Spanish NI system - but you will need the paperwork from England - see the UK Gov site on internet for more details.

Hi,

I am not a resident but am renting for 6 months to a year before buying.

If you spend 90 days or more in Spain you`ll be required to apply for NIE as your then classed as a resident.

If you don`t you could be asked to leave Spain and you won`t be entitled to health care.
