Hi Nikki - my partner says… (they are the gardening expert - we have a small holding for organic veg and do well selling locally)....
The general ‘opinion’ is that UK produced seeds (or designed for the UK market) do not do well here in this climate.. Basically they keel over in the heat no matter what. Also how would you get a potted pansy to a client here in good condition?
There are MANY local gardening centres - catering for all tastes and not too expensive - so you would probably be having to offer something really special!
We do look for things that are ‘unique/interesting/NOT run of the mill’.. We did think about ordering on-line.. but again the issue of the quality/suitability for this climate told us no.
(We are seriously looking for some Noni Seeds or plants - but have stopped our enquires as they require a tropical climate to survive ).
The best idea I can give you - is that although there are many gardening centres - filled to the brim with pots and fencing etc.. Seedling trays and small plastic lightweight potting/growing pots are very difficult to find! I met a guy who buys them on-line from the Uk and has them imported -as he can’t get the gardening cetnres to sell him any!
Good luck! sj
