Hello…

I will be hiking the GR7 in Andalucia this coming Fall and I am wondering if there are plentiful Wi-Fi hotspots in small towns in Spain, comparable to the United States, for example?

Do many cafes, bars, restaurants, libraries, etc., have Wi-Fi?

Thanks…

Wi-fi is limited in the countryside but almost every village in Andalucia has a Guadalinfo facility.  This is a government initiative to provide computers and broadband to rural communities and usually takes the form of a couple of PCs and printers in the town hall, school or library. Although it may not look too obvious, anyone including visitors can call in and use a PC to check their e-mail etc. for free. For example in our village of Juviles - pop 200 and on the GR7 in the Alpujarra - there are about six terminals in the library and it’s open five half-days a week, with a very friendly and helpful manager who keeps an eye on the place.  You can check locations and opening times of guadalinfo offices on http://www.guadalinfo.net/.  Please see my sites for information and links relating to a lot of the places on the GR7, including weather, maps etc.  http://www.casasierra.blogspot.com and www.casasierra.co.uk.
