hello everyone,
            Please does anybody know the proceedures for obtaining a spanish
family book in valencia spain… I recently got married with a spanish lady and both of
us are living together. (though we celebrated the marriage
in the mosque here in spain hence she is a muslim).
Can someone who has gone through the whole process before pls assist me by letting me know
the proceedures for obtaining the family book(libro de familiar)
and how long it could take before we can have it hence there was no
clear information we could gather from the court here.
Then after that, how do i proceed for the NIE NUMBER, SECURITY SOCIAL NUMBER and spanish resident card.
Or is it possible to have the NIE and SECURITY NUMBER immediately after interview before obtaining family book,
Im confused, i dont know what and where to go, or how to start…please help me, please…
Any assistance will be highly appreciated.

If you got married then you have to receive libro de familia automatically - you question is not clear unless you didnt go through legal procedure of getting married by authorised Spanish institution, which is Civil Registro. Did you? If not and also for other inquiries you can find answers on this forum, just type in key words in the search box.  There are also articles on this site regarding obtaining NIE, residency card etc so all answers are here already ready

But i just heard from someone this morning that we should first go and register the marriage
at registro civil but i dont know how the proceedure look like in valencia,
(how long it could take before obtaining the libro de familiar).
Though before the marriage, we never went to the regstro civil too.
This is a religious marriage anyway, but i really want to know
the steps involved in obtaining the necessary documents but i guess
the libro de familiar is the first document to obtain but i dont know how, how long,
what steps etc.
I wish to hear from someone who also celebrated any religious marriage in
valencia and has gone through the whole paperwork to the last point.
Though anybody with nice info about it is highly appreciated.

Sorry but am afraid your marriage is NOT legal in Spain.
You must go to the Registro Civil with your fianc?e, with your passport or identity card (DNI for your fianc?e) and the certificado de empadronamien to prove you’re living in Valencia, and say you want to get married. They’ll give you the list of documents they need. Since you’re not a Spanish citizen, your birth certificate and whatever the Registro Civil requires, shall have to be stamped by your Embassy or Consulate. It may take ages ... depending how good is the service you get from your Consulate. I had to wait 6 (six) months just to get the documents properly issued by my Consulate ...  😖

consulate, what was the next step, were you interviewed, how long did
you wait b/4 interview, after interview how long did it take before
libro de familiar was given to you and how did you obtain the other

1- after you get the list of documents you need (i.e.: birth certificate, etc.) you must give it to your Consulate and they will request the documents from your Country of origin. When they receive them, they duly stamp the documents certifying that it’s all true and then you can bring the documents to the Registro Civil and fix an appointment for the inteview

2- when I got married, a few years ago, I waited a couple of weeks and the interview was a very short one. I understand that now it’s much worse. There’s a thread about it, read it to have an idea of what you’d expect.

3- if everything is ok, you’ll be able to fix a date for your civil wedding.

4- more or less 1 month after the wedding you can go and collect the ‘Libro di familia’.

When I decided to get married I requested the documents through the Italian Consulate beginning of September, got them end of February the following year, got married end of March and collected the Libro de Familia beginning of May.

I am afraid noone can give you precise dates, because they vary from region to region. It can take 2-9 months according to what I have read. In big cities as Valencia can onbviously take longer.
