Hi,
I’m trying to apply for Spanish citizenship but I read some posts about the Spanish consulate requiring the “MINREX” stamp in order to legalize Cuban documents. Is this absolutely necessary? I have no living relatives in Cuba that can get these documents certified for me. Is there a US government department that can certify it instead? I currently have my mom’s birth certificate and my grandmother’s marriage papers. I contacted Cuba City Hall and the guy said he can’t take my documents and legalize them, he can only produce new certificates with the MINREX stamp (even though I already have the originals). Which would cost me $1000 for both. Is there any way around this?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you,
Amanda
