It is quite startling how many non Spanish who have decided to buy a home in Spain have taken extraordinary risks. To place total trust in any service provider without carrying out thorough checks is foolhardy. Are you aware that you do not need a lawyer to act for you in Spain? You can give full power of attorney to anyone making them your legal representative. Make sure you know the person who will be acting for you. Take into account that this representation does not include acting for you in a court. This service can only be provided by a lawyer or legal equal. There are repetitive occurrences where persons and usually not lawyers are nowhere to be found and neither are the title deeds of the property they have signed for. There are cases where particular service providers have allowed their clients to be under the misconception that they have employed a lawyer.
