Hello all!

I would like to start of this message by saying I have read alot of posts in the forums and I know that another brit bar is not what spain needs and that bars are closing left right and centre. Thank you for the advice but there are several reasons for a bar closing or not being run correctly by a brit and hopefully I am not going to fall into any of them as I intend to move my family out with me.

I have found a nice small bar in the Nerja area just a short walk away from the beach, the landlord that owns it has returned back to the UK due to family heath problems and wants to sell up, well i say he wants to sell up he has given me 3 options. Buy the place freehold, rent or rent to buy. The amount has been reduced majorly due to getting it sold quickly or getting someone in there.
He is asking 800? a month with a 5000? returnable deposit with no extra cost for the lease - Lease term no discussed yet. It comes fully furnished.

I have huge experience and knowledge or business running my own petrol station for 5 years ( big difference I know to a bar but we did sell alcohol)
I am extreamly hard working and am not coming out to live a dream I am coming out to make a living and if goes well some money.

Just wanted to get some feedback from the ones who have done it. As i am sure it is not easy at all.

Ask to see his accounts. Don’t forget that the season is just fin?shing now aswell, you’ll need money to tide you over till next spring. Just a short walk from the beach is no good if the bar is down a back road. There’ll be lots of other overheads besides the rent, make sure that the figures tally up.

And don’t forget that a lot of business owners run two sets of books…

Amazing how many bars I see being sold for ‘Health reasons’ and yes being behind the beach is useless even in the high season in Torrevieja people queue to get beach side bars and restaurants but ignore those behind which are empty. With the crisis, smoking ban, drink and driving laws, increased taxation of alcohol etc bars are no longer a licence to print money. Long hours for poor return. Have you seen the bar operating in the long winter season? I would be amazed if it makes any money and with ever increasing overheads (electricity,  taxes, gas, ....) Think about it very carefully.

Hi, As many say buying a bar is not all it is cracked up to be, late nights and early mornings, but if you want a bar in a prime location in Torreveija then have a look at this one.
