How to get Spanish residency?

I am a Cuban American.

Born in Cuba.  My parents were both born in Cuba.

My grandfather was born in Spain.

I have my mother’s Cuban birth certificate which states her father was born in Spain.

I am not planning to get a job in Spain.

Questions:
1. What “specific option” do I have to gain Spanish residency ?
2. What docs will I need? Where / how do I get them?
3. What specific forms will I need? Where exactly can I get them?
3. How long will it take?
4. Any other suggestions?

The Spanish embassy in SF is so unhelpful in this regard. I have called them multiple times.

for residency, which means that you will have to reside in spain, you either get a resident permit to work and live or to live in spain.
