Howdy all,

I am American, married to a British citizen, and we would like to purchase property in Spain like everyone else, LOL.

Trouble is, I have a criminal record, so I don’t know if I’d ever be granted a visa, nor if it matters being that my spouse is EU.

Record has nothing to do with drugs, sex, or violence, nor “moral turpitude” as it’s called here, and nothing in the last four years. A few offenses, all misdemeanors, with one very distant juvenile felony (vandalism). It is all perfectly trivial and unserious but it has kept me from being granted employment in the past, and I wonder if we ought to just forget the idea because of this.

I’ve read in one place the FBI check is required, elsewhere that a state-wide check is sufficient. None of those crimes was committed in my current state of residence, where I have been for four years.

Apologies in advance if there is an equivalent case buried in the forum that I have not seen.
